HostGator being Sold to EIG

The whole webmaster world seems to tremble on hearing the news of Hostgator being sold to EIG (Enduarance International Group). HostGator is invariably the leader in web hosting companies, millions of websites literally hosted by them.

HostGator Sold

When is Hostgator being sold

There isn’t any official announcement regarding this topic yet. It might be one of those rumors. According to the source we got,  EIG offered $225 Millions to Hostgator recently. They were planning on acquiring Hostgator for the last one year.

Hostgator reportedly accepted their offer.

Who is purchasing Hostgator

Enduarance International Group owns a chain of popular Web Hosting companies like JustHost, FatCow and 30 others.

EIG made this offer not long since it’s acquisition of one of the top Web hosting companies, BlueHost, Netfirms and HostMonster.

Changes in Hostgator

Soon after the sale of Hostgator, there will probably be a change of data centers and pricing plans. There will be major downtime and few minor changes

From my personal experience in Netfirms Host, After it’s acquisition, there was sharp fall in the hosting quality as well as hours of downtime.

What should Hostgator users do

Just in case, Make complete backups of your site files and sql databases. There might a lot of data loss during the data center transitions. Store the backups securely on your PC or on your Cloud.

Lets just hope everything will sail smooth.

  • It’s really a good strategic move by Hostgator. EIG is really a good hosting companies group and have approx 40 companies in the group. I hope the service quality will remain the same.
